Mac was also admitted as a solicitor in 1977 having obtained his undergraduate degrees at the University of Sydney. Having convinced Peter to head to the New England and become a Solicitor, Mac also ventured north to begin practicing law with Brian Abbott in Armidale in August 1977, before transferring to Glen Innes in 1980 and making partner in 1981.  

Mac’s principle areas of practice are property, business, commercial and probate law and estate planning.

Director and honorary solicitor for The Glen Innes Sheltered Workshop from 1981 to 1990, and for Glenwood gardens from 1997 to about 2000,  Mac still remains honorary solicitor.

Community participation and support have never been far from Mac’s doorstep. He has graced numerous organisations as an over the years, is a life member of the Glen Innes Show Society, and has previously held the seat of President for the New England Rugby Union Zone and Regional President of the North and North West Law Society.

As president of the North and North West Law Society, Mac was delegated to the foundation committee for the development of the Law School at the University of New England.
